Erosion control & drainage optimization is extremely important here in Colorado. Colorado winters can bring tons of snow and rain, and with this comes natural soil erosion. We can help by eliminating standing water low areas and instead grade the land and create drainage ditches that direct excess water. Some homes in Colorado have negative slopes or grades toward their foundation causing cracks and sometimes even flooded basements. This can often be fixed by adding soil where erosion has taken place, however, sometimes it requires french drains or swales to be added. Trenching or digging these large drainage ditches require heavy machinery and can often extend acres long. An example of trenching is when we install culverts, which are large pipes that channel water underneath various obstacles, primarily driveways, or roadways. These trenches often extend far past where the culvert is installed but will vary depending on the land.
